how do I hang one?

safety rules

This is all common sense, but, for the safety of you and your children, you must:

Always check the strength of your hanging point by attaching your hanging rope to that point and hanging off it.

Always hang your cacoon just above ground level and test it with the same weight that you are going to have in it. If you are going to invite a friend in, test again.

Never hang your cacoon higher than ground level unless you have weight tested the cacoon, hanging rope and hanging point.

Always check that the cacoon and it’s hanging system are in good condition and show no signs of damage, wear or tear.

Never use your cacoon as a trampoline or jump into it. The cacoon is designed for relaxation.

eight part, knock-down ring cacoons

To be honest it's not really very hard. First time might take you five minutes or so, but once you've got the hang of it it really is a doddle.

Tools required - NONE!

Step 1
Starting at the first webbing loop to the left of the door opening push each section in, connecting sections as you go while making sure that the sections pass through all the webbing loops. Complete the rest of the ring on the ground.

Step 2
Pick the ring and cacoon up into vertical aspect and pull the cacoon over the completed ring.

Step 3
Use your fingers to lever the last section of the cacoon over the ring. This does take a bit of effort, but you can make it easier by keeping the seam aligned with the ring as much as possible.

Step 4
While working on Step 3 try to get the three webbing ties to sit each side of the ring making it easy to tie the ring in tightly (using a reef knot).

Step 5
Check the ring is aligned with the seam and the ties are tight.

Step 6
Select your hanging point and check it can handle the relevant weight of the cacoon, yourself and any casual visitors. Now hang your cacoon as low as you can.

Step 7
Once you know the branch is strong enough you can hang your cacoon higher so you can get a better view and more movement.

It couldn't be much easier really – simply unpack your cacoon and check that the branch, beam or bracket you are intending to hang your cacoon from is strong enough to take your weight (plus the weight of any friends who may be joining you!). And get hanging – but remember to use a suitable knot – enjoy!
